Resumo: | The article begins with a description of the various ways in which women can participate in ecclesiastical activity, highlighting those areas where there has been most progress in the forty years since the publication of the 1983 Code; and of those that open up the most significant possibilities for advancing towards the effective implementation of the principle of gender equality, such as teaching in ecclesiastical faculties and seminaries, their appointment as ecclesiastical judges and the role of women in investigations and criminal proceedings brought against priests. It also offers a reflective evaluation of the future prospects that the current synodal process on synodality opens up in this area, paying particular attention to the reform of the Roman Curia articulated in Praedicate Evangelium. The article concludes by pointing out some aspects that might be subject to normative reform, such as the clerical status of the judges of Apostolic Tribunals, the cardinalate and the possible reform of diocesan consultative councils. |
