AB Al fin de todo ordenamiento eclesial, la salvación de las almas, contribuye con una competencia específica el Supremo Tribunal de la Signatura Apostólica, ejerciendo como Tribunal Supremo y velando por la recta administración de la justicia en los tribunales de la Iglesia (art. 124, Pastor bonus). Es una potestad administrativa ejercida sobre todos los tribunales eclesiásticos esparcidos por el mundo, a excepción de la Rota Romana, a través de: una detallada relación anual que cada tribunal envía, sobre la base de un cuestionario tipo; un juicio sobre peticiones dirigidas a la Sede Apostólica; y, finalmente, un examen de las denuncias, tomando medidas disciplinares, de ser necesario, respecto a los ministros, abogados y procuradores. De este modo, la Signatura conserva y promueve la comunión eclesial.
AB To the purpose of Church regulation, the salvation of the souls, the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura contributes with a specific mission, doing as Supreme Court and guarding over the fair administration of the justice in the Tribunals of the Church (art. 124, Pastor bonus). It is an administrative legal authority exercised on all the ecclesiastic Tribunals for the world, with the exception of the Roman Rota, by: a meticulous annual relation that every Tribunal sends, on the base of a questionnaire-form; a judgment on requests directed the Apostolic See; and, finally, an evaluation of the claims, taking order actions, if it is necessary, with regard to the ministers, procurators and advocates. Thus, the Signature preserves and promotes the church communion.
