| Summary: | The Codex Scardensis or Skarðsbók postulasagna, SÁM 11 (1360- 1375, Iceland) contains the only complete and homogeneous medieval Icelandic series of sagas of the twelve apostles to whom Paul is joined, in the following order: Peter, Paul, Andrew, John and James the Greater, Thomas, Philip, James the Less, Bartholomew, Matthias, Simon and Jude, and Matthew. This manuscript was commissioned by a local aristocrat, the law speaker Ormr Snorrason (1320-1401/2). This article aims to highlight the relationship between the Codex Scardensis and the Virtutes apostolorum in the light of the recent research on these series of Latin narratives on individual apostles. We will focus mainly on the overall structure of the Skarðsbók postulasagna, the only one that we can grasp at this stage of our research. This article intends therefore to provide a review of the research on both the Latin and Icelandic series, and to outline new perspectives.Le Codex Scardensis ou Skarðsbók postulasagna, SÁM 1 (1360-1375) contient l’unique série médiévale islandaise complète et homogène de sagas des douze apôtres auxquels est joint Paul, soit dans l’ordre celles de : Pierre, Paul, André, Jean et Jacques le Majeur, Thomas, Philippe, Jacques le Mineur, Barthélemy, Matthias, Simon et Jude, et Matthieu. Ce manuscrit a été produit à la demande d’un aristocrate local, le bailli Ormr Snorrason (1320-1401/2). La présente étude a pour but de mettre en évidence des éléments de parenté entre le Codex Scardensis et les Virtutes apostolorum à la lumière des recherches les plus récentes menées sur ces séries latines de récits apostoliques distincts. Nous nous intéresserons essentiellement à la composition d’ensemble des Skarðsbók postulasagna, la seule que nous puissions cerner dans l’état actuel de nos recherches. Il s’agit donc avant tout de faire un état des lieux de la recherche et d’esquisser de nouvelles perspectives. |
