| Sumario: | Contrary to the critical tradition which reads The City of God in the light of categories such as theology of history or philosophy of history, in this paper we propose a reading of the Augustinian great work as an archaeology of evil in history. We show in particular that this archaeology unfolds from a protohistory (the split in angelic society) to tend towards an eschatology of hope in a hereafter of time. À rebours de la tradition critique qui lit La Cité de Dieu à l'aune des catégories de théologie de l'histoire ou de philosophie de l'histoire, Jérôme Lagouanère propose une lecture du grand-œuvre augustinien comme une archéologie du mal dans l'histoire. Il montre notamment que cette archéologie se déploie d'une protohistoire (la scission de la société angélique) pour tendre vers une eschatologie d’espérance dans un au-delà du temps. |
