Dated from the end of the 5th or the 6th century ce, it is located in a valley between the Mesopotamian plain and the Upper Tigris. Its architectural features and mosaic pavement testify to the influence of northern Syria, especially the regions of Apamea and Antioch. The main carpet represents the toil of the spring months along with a scene of hunting and animals chasing each other. The mosaic features several Syriac inscriptions, including a dedication that states the date on which the paving was made. The position of the building, at the edge of the Eastern Roman Empire, prompts us to explore the cultural relations of this region with other parts of the empire and to examine its local context, in the cradle of the Syriac world. | ||

Datée de la fin du ve siècle ou du vıe siècle de notre ère, elle est située dans une vallée entre la plaine mésopotamienne et le Haut-Tigre. Ses caractéristiques architecturales et son pavement témoignent de l’influence de la Syrie du Nord, en particulier des régions d’Apamée et d’Antioche. Le tapis principal représente le labeur des mois du printemps en même temps qu’une scène de chasse et d’animaux qui se poursuivent. La mosaïque comporte plusieurs inscriptions syriaques, notamment une dédicace qui énonce la date à laquelle le pavement a été réalisé. La position de l’édifice, aux confins de l’empire romain d’Orient, nous incite à explorer les contacts culturels de cette région avec d’autres parties de l’empire et à examiner son contexte local, dans le berceau du monde syriaque. | ||
| 520 | |a اكتشاف كنيسة ذات منبر وفسيفساءها في شرق الأناضول (تركيا)تنتمي كنيسة غولا إلى عدد قليل من المباني الدينية ذات المنبر الواقعة خارج أبرشية أنطاكية. يعود تاريخ هذه الكنيسة إلى نهاية القرن الخامس أو إلى القرن السادس الميلادي وهي تقع في وادي بين سهل بلاد الرافدين ونهر دجلة الأعلى. إن المعالم المعمارية وطريقة رصف أرضيات هذه الكنيسة تبين مدى تأثرها بالشمال السوري وخاصة مناطق أفاميا وأنطاكية. أن السجادة الرئيسية تمثل العمل في أشهر الربيع بالإضافة إلى مشهد للصيد وللحيوانات التي تتلاحق. تحتوي فسيفساء هذه الكنيسة على العديد من المدونات السريانية وخاصةً على إهداء يوضح تاريخ تنفيذ أعمال الرصف. إن وقوع هذا المبنى على الحدود الشرقية للإمبراطورية الرومانية يدفعنا إلى العمل على استكشاف الصلات الثقافية لهذه المنطقة مع أجزاء أخرى من الإمبراطورية وإلى دراسة سياقها المحلي الواقع في مهد العالم السرياني. | ||
