La conclusión a la que arribamos es que existió una simultaneidad en paralelo de estas dos realidades, sin puntos de contacto entre ellas. A nuestro juicio, y a la espera de otras investigaciones, esta situación se explica en razón del tipo de cristología manejada por el “apóstol de los negros”, centrada en la redención y preocupada, principalmente, por los padecimientos y la muerte sangrienta de Jesús. Tal cristología traía consuelo a los negros, les daba esperanza de una vida plena en el cielo, y les animaba en su existencia terrena, pero no abría espacios suficientes para fortalecer procesos liberadores, de resistencia y libertad en el pueblo negro. | ||
| 520 | |a In this presentation we have tried to establish the relationship between the struggle for freedom of the Blacks and the pastoral labor of Pedro Claver in Colombia in the XVII century. We conclude that there was a parallel likenes between these two realities, without ever actually coming to any point of contact. In our judgment, and while awaiting further investigation, this situation explains the reason for the kind of Christology preached by the “apostle to the afro-american” centered as it was in the act of Redemption and concerned specially with Jesus sufferings and death by crucifixion. This type of Christology brougth consolation to the african, giviny them hope for a fuller life in heaven; at the same time providing them with strenght and hope during their earthly existence, without, however, opening up sufficient space for strengthening the liberating process: a process of resistence and liberty for the black people | ||
