Description
Summary:Presentation of the ceterae Ecclesiae sui iuris mentioned in the canons 174-176 of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches, as indicated by the Annuario Pontificio 2017, keeping in mind the latest updates. Each of these Churches, in addition to the Hierarch who presides over it under common law and the particular law established by the Roman Pontiff, must have the delegated Hierarch of the Apostolic See with the function of Metropolitan. Currently, these Churches are formed by small ecclesiastical circumscriptions, that is, apostolic exarchat or eparchy, both directly subject to the Apostolic See. After a short historical excursus of training, we move on to analyzing the current status, proposing future developments. To avoid the isolation of these Churches, an Assembly of Hierarchies is proposed with its own statutes approved by the Apostolic See: this would allow mutual knowledge and help. There is also a proposed metropolitan Church on the iuris that groups the constituencies dismembered by Mukachevo; make the Czech eparchy suffragane of Prešov; plan for a reorganization of Byzantine circumscriptions in Italy; erections of ecclesiastical circumscriptions in Russia and Belarus.
