AB Klimafiksing, det vil si storskala manipulering av miljøet for å motvirke menneskeskapte klimaendringer, er et kontroversielt svar på antropocenens klimautfordringer. Tilnærmingen legger til grunn at klimaendringene utgjør et praktisk problem som krever en teknologisk løsning, og at denne løsningen finnes eller kan og bør utvikles. I denne artikkelen drøftes derfor teknologiens sosiale og kulturelle rolle, og det argumenteres for og imot klimafiksing. I tillegg diskuteres forholdet mellom teknologi, religion og teologisk etikk. Det argumenteres for at klimafiksing ikke kan avvises på generelt grunnlag, men at teologisk etikk bør møte denne typen initiativ med teologiske fortolkningsrammer, etisk kritikk og refleksiv nytolkning.
AB Climate engineering, meaning large-scale manipulation of the environment to counter anthropogenic climate change, is a controversial response to climate change in the Anthropocene. The approach assumes that climate change poses a practical problem that requires a technological solution, and that this solution exists or can and should be developed. This article therefore discusses the social and cultural role of technology and considers arguments for and against climate engineering. In addition, the relationship between technology, religion and theological ethics is discussed. It is argued that climate engineering cannot be rejected on a general basis, but that theological ethics should address this kind of initiative by offering theological interpretations, ethical criticism, and reflexive reinterpretation.
