Description
Summary:Due to the (internal and external) destruction of the Second World War, the sacred work of the Kreuzkantor and director of the Dresden Kreuzchor Rudolf Mauersberger experienced a conceptual sharpening, textual intensification and Christian internalization. Human failure is placed in the context of God's judgment and love and, based on the "Dresdner Te Deum" (1944/45), the mourning hymn "Wie liegt die Stadt so wüst" (1945), the "Dresdner Requiem" (1947/48) and the "Motette vom Frieden" (1953) on a large and small scale.
