Resumo:Cardinal Ratzinger describes, in a talk with the German publicist Peter Seewald, extensively stages in his life, formulates his position regarding problemes concerning the Catholic Church and ventures into considering the Church in the third millennium. Different from the critical and sharp interview a long time ago with V. Messori, the cardinal now enters into the points which are raised in the questions, while speaking in a rather conciliatory manner. Some of his strong pronouncements may startle us, for instance about the relationship with the Jews and with other religions, especially if we hear them from the Prefect of the Congregation for the Faith. However, we have to realise that we do not have a systematic treatment, but an answer to questions which are raised from the point of view of an outsider. In general we encounter here a man of the Church who analyzes his times soberly, who has grown wise and whose main intention it is, to raise again a certain curiosity for what Christianity is about.
