520 |a A essencial vinculação entre sexualidade e matrimônio faz com que tenha relevância jurídica a não realização da integração sexual do casal conjugal, como ocorre nos casos de não consumação do matrimônio, embora o conceito de consumação, por uma questão de segurança jurídica, obrigue a defini-la com a máxima exatidão possível, deixando-se de lado outras expressões legítimas de exercício da própria sexualidade no âmbito da relação conjugal. Dando a devida relevância ao ato conjugal em sua dimensão unitiva e procriativa, a Igreja sustenta que, sem a consumação, a indissolubilidade do vínculo conjugal não é absoluta. Por isso, ao longo dos séculos, admitiu a sua dissolução, cabendo apenas ao Romano Pontífice concedê-la ou não, sendo tal concessão juridicamente configurada como uma graça. O procedimento previsto para se obter essa graça é de natureza administrativa e nele se percebe a preocupação com o bem espiritual dos fiéis e a salus animarum. No presente artigo se oferecerá uma visão panorâmica acerca dos pressupostos para a concessão da graça e das normas que disciplinam tal procedimento em suas duas fases: diocesana e apostólica. 
520 |a The essential link between sexuality and marriage makes the non-fulfilment of the sexual integration of the conjugal couple, as occurs in cases of non-consummation of the marriage, legally relevant. Giving due importance to the conjugal act in its unitive and procreative dimension, the Church maintains that, without consummation, the indissolubility of the conjugal bond is not absolute. For this reason, over the centuries, it has admitted its dissolution, and it is for the Roman Pontiff alone to grant it or not, this concession being juridically configured as a grace. The procedure foreseen to obtain this grace is of an administrative nature and in it one can perceive the concern for the spiritual welfare of the faithful and the salus animarum. The present article will offer a panoramic view of the presuppositions for the concession of the grace and of the norms that regulate this procedure in its two phases: diocesan and apostolic.
