520 |a The present article consists of an analysis of distinction 19 of Duns Scotus' second commentary on the Sentences of Peter Lombard, with a focus on finding in the structure of the text the question of the mortality of human corporeality. The investigation of the topic introduces us to an arduous debate between human nature and original sin, in the midst of a discourse that distinguishes the elements of an anthropology mediated by philosophy and theology. The question asks: would the first man in the state of innocence have had an immortal body? Scotus' exposition of the arguments allows us to reconsider the view of human nature in the state of innocence, and his conclusions can give us new vision of the human being. The article provides the reader with the full translation of the text.
