The author states that the following newspaper titles: "Przegląd Tygodniowy", "Niwa", "Prawda", "Biblioteka Warszawska", "Ateneum" featured the works of J. Ochorowicz, B. Reichman, P. Chmielowski, F. Bogacki, F. Krupiński, W. Kozłowski (elder), W. Spasowicz, A. Dygasiński and many others who presented the positivist paradigm of science. In the article it is acknowledged that it was a simple, comprehensible, commonsensical approach mapping out a perspective of thinking for a large part of Polish (but not exclusively) intelligence. This way it became a universal world-view reflected in philosophy, literature, history, sociology and budding religious studies. In the author's opinion, such a world-view was indeed a basis for Andrzej Niemojewski's reflections on religion. Despite being an advocate of the astro-mythological school, in his deliberations he applied the principles of analysing terms compiled by the critical school of philosophy which can be traced in the positivist-Kantian tradition. In line with the principles of these trends A. Niemojewski believed that by being well acquainted with contemporary cults and having ample comparative material, moving from abstraction to specifics, from philosophised contemporary deities to myths, one can trace the stages of development of religious beliefs from totemism to modern forms. | ||
