En el Código de 1917 ya queda establecida la disciplina que más tarde la teología que surge del Concilio Vaticano II harán más patente en la normativa. El Código de 1983 lo recoge y casi al mismo tiempo el capítulo sobre las bendiciones del Ritual Romano reformado lo establece con claridad. El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica específicamente explica el origen de este ministerio: el sacerdocio bautismal o común de todos los fieles. El ritual de la bendición forma parte del culto público de la Iglesia y es ella quien reconoce su origen en el bautismo y asimismo determina quienes ejercen este ministerio en cada oportunidad por una missio especificada vez por vez. | ||

The discipline that later would be confirmed in the conciliar theology has been established in the 1917 Code. The 1983 Code collects it and at the same time the Chapter about blessings of the reformed Roman Ritual states it clearly. The Catholic Church Catechism specifically explains this ministry origin: the baptismal or common priesthood of the faithful. Blessing ritual integrates of the public cult of the Church and is her itself who recognizes in the Baptism his origin.
