| Summary: | Scientifichumanismisaworldviewthatprofessesabsolutetrustandsolerelianceonreasoningandtheuseofthescientificmethodinthehumanquestforcomprehendingreality.Apartfromthefactthatitsproponentspushitforthasarivalconceptualschemetoreligion,itnurturesaviewofsciencewhichpromotestheconflictthesisinthereligion-sciencedebate.Inthispaper,attemptwasmadetoevaluatescientifichumanismviaacritiqueofitsmetaphysicswiththegoalofdelineatingitslogicality,adequacyandlevelofreliabilityinfurnishinguswithknowledgeofreality.Thequalitativemethodwasadoptedintheanalysisofliterature.Itwasconcluded,aftercarefulstudy,thatscientifichumanismisgrosslylackingasareliableworldview,andthatitcouldmarfruitfulengagementwithrealitybecauseofitsinadequateontologyandepistemicprowess,flawedlogic,andanumberofunwarrantedassumptionsatitscore.Italsoevincesaconceptionofsciencethatisgrosslyinaccurateandcouldhamperfruitfuldialoguebetweenreligion and science. |
