| Summary: | For some time, the Institut catholique de Paris had been looking for a professor of Canon Law, cautious in his criticism and at the same time very well prepared and capable of developing the Higher School of Theology, established in 1878. In all of France, it had thus far proven impossible to find a priest with those characteristics. The article reconstructs the youth of Pietro Gasparri, who was called to teach at the Catholic Institute on the rue de Vaugirard, located a few steps from the Sorbonne, where he remained for nineteen years. With this contribution, the author has chosen to focus on a series of documents preserved in the Parisian archives -until now only partially exploited historiographically- which add to our knowledge of certain aspects of the public and private life of the famous cardinal. À l’Institut catholique de Paris, on cherchait depuis quelque temps un professeur de droit canonique, prudent dans sa critique et en même temps très bien préparé, capable de développer l’École supérieure de théologie établie en 1878. Dans toute la France, il n’avait pas été possible jusqu’alors de trouver un prêtre présentant ces caractéristiques. L’article reconstitue la jeunesse de Pietro Gasparri, appelé à enseigner à l’Institut catholique de la rue de Vaugirard, situé à quelques pas de la Sorbonne, où il est resté pendant dix-neuf ans. Avec cette contribution, l’auteur a voulu privilégier une série de documents conservés dans le fonds d’archives parisien - jusqu’à présent partiellement exploités sur le plan historiographique - qui permettent d’ajouter une pierre à l’édifice de notre connaissance de certains aspects de la vie publique et privée du célèbre cardinal. Am Institut catholique de Paris suchte man seit einiger Zeit einen Professor für Kirchenrecht, jemanden der in seiner Kritik besonnen war und doch zugleich bereit und fähig war, die 1878 gegründete theologische Hochschule weiter zu entwickeln. In ganz Frankreich war es nicht möglich, einen Priester mit diesen Eigenschaften zu finden. Der vorliegende Artikel rekonstruiert die Jugend Pietro Gasparris, der zu einem Lehrauftrag an das Institut catholique in der rue de Vaugirard, unweit der Sorbonne, berufen wurde und dort für neunzehn Jahre blieb. Der Autor wollte mit diesem Beitrag eine Reihe, in den Tiefen Pariser Archive bewahrte -und bis heute in historiografischer Hinsicht nur teilweise erschlossene- Dokumente in den Fokus rücken. Diese Dokumente liefern einen nützlichen Beitrag zu unserem Wissen über bestimmte Aspekte des öffentlichen und privaten Lebens des berühmten Kardinals. |
