| Summary: | Abordamos en este trabajo los aspectos materiales y temporales de la vida de doña Ana de Toledo y Portugal, la hija menor de los Condes de Oropesa, fundadores y patronos del convento de agustinas recoletas de La Calzada, fundado en 1676, en cuyos claustros se crio desde los seis años y donde tomó el hábito, profesó y fue priora durante 24 años, hasta su muerte, con el nombre de sor Ana Agustina de Jesús María. La madre Ana nació probablemente en Madrid el 23 de noviembre de 1693 y murió en el convento de La Calzada el 29 de enero de 1739, en la plenitud de la vida, con sólo 45 años de edad, y casi 40 de vida religiosa y 24 de prelada. Ahora nos hemos centrado en la biografía material y sus hechos temporales, pero no es menos interesante su vida intimista de virtud y profunda espiritualidad, que habrá que estudiar en otro trabajo. Debemos sacar a la luz estos tesoros escondidos en el silencio y soledad de los claustros de la clausura femenina recoleta. In this paper, we approach the material and temporal aspects of the life of Doña Ana de Toledo y Portugal, the youngest daughter of the Counts of Oropesa, founders and patrons of the Augustinian Recollect convent of La Calzada, founded in 1676. She entered the convent at the age of six, and there she took the Augustinian Recollect habit with the religious name of Ana Agustina de Jesus Maria. Sister Ana was grown and later became prioress of the said religious community, an offi ce which she would hold for twenty-four years until her death. Mother Ana was probably born in Madrid on November 23, 1693 and died on January 29, 1739, in the fullness of life, at the young age of 45, 40 years of which were spent in religious life. Now we focus on her biography and temporal deeds, but her profound spirituality is no less interesting, which will have to be studied in another work. We must bring to light these treasures hidden in the silence and solitude of the cloisters of the Augustinian Recollect nuns. |
