The passage, best known for the tragic account of the murder of Abel by hisbrother Cain, is set in the midst of the sacrificial rituals of both before moving immediately to the construction of the first city, along with some outstanding cultural inventionsforged by the lineage of Cain. The text of Genesis, in this way, seems to imply a close relationship between violence and culture from the origins of history. In this article, we wantto investigate this controversial relationship by considering the literary structure of the chapter and, in particular, analyzing the text of Genesis 4,16, which offers a response to this tension, since it is situated literary and theologically in a strategic point of the story. This study analyzes some of these concepts in order to show more clearly the transitionfrom cult to culture and some of its theological implications. | ||
