AB This paper offers a close reading of Daniel 8 from the intertextual analysis approach proposedby Gerard Genette in his work Palimpsests. The main focus of the investigation waslimited to the search for possible intertexts in this chapter of Daniel and the analysis ofhow they manifest themselves in its textual plot. Finally, the possible implications of theseintertexts for the understanding of the themes of the desecrating force of the sanctuaryand the divine judgment in Daniel 8 are briefly explored.
