As opposed to scholasticism and dogmatic theology explained in Latin in university chairs to train theologians and pastors, the mystical ideal is conscious of being a spiritual itinerary for the interior formation of the religious and the people with whom they live, as "John of the Cross, O.P., pointed out in 1555: "In our age and in our lands the Lord awakens many men and women... And he strives them for spiritual life and spiritual occupations". This universal desire in which each of those who set out on the mystical path follows his or her own path from the Middle Ages will require a methodological change which includes the use of the vernacular language, in this case Spanish, in a context of Castilian humanism and a budding Reformation. | ||

Frente al escolasticismo y la teología dogmática explicada en latín en las cátedras universitarias para formar a teólogos y pastores, el ideal místico tiene conciencia de constituirse en un itinerario espiritual para la formación interior de los religiosos y del pueblo con el que conviven, tal como señala "Juan de la Cruz, O.P., en 1555: "En nuestra edad y en nuestras tierras el Señor despierta muchos hombres y mujeres… Y los esfuerza para vida y ocupaciones espirituales". Este deseo universal en el que cada uno de los que inician el camino místico sigue su propio recorrido desde la Edad Media exigirá un cambio metodológico en el que se incluye el uso de la lengua vernácula, en este caso el español, en un contexto de humanismo castellano y de una Reforma en ciernes. | ||
