Other popular adaptations of this model reduce religiosity to a threefold paradigm of "belonging, believing and behaving", where ritual, spiritual experience and moral precepts are combined into the notion of "behaving". We can approach these labels as three different emphases that can set the agenda for how we form young people in the faith and prepare them for their vocation as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ. We can emphasise the importance of "belief" and this plays to the school of thought that if young people were better catechised and had a greater understanding of the tenets of Catholic doctrine and practice, they would be more responsive. Another approach is to emphasise "behaving" and to inculcate an awareness of the Catholic traditions of worship, church discipline, and a moral code. This article will consider the importance of "belonging" in religious practice and in the formation of young people to be "missionary disciples". | ||
