Итог: | This paper aims to compare different decorative patterns found in several archaeological sites in Jordan, dating back to the first century after Hijra (the Umayyad era, 661-750), more specifically, the Marwanid period. The need to control a wider, more decentralised empire from Arabia led caliphal power to create a network of buildings in the Badiya, near wadis or water sources, to control communication and trade routes. The Umayyads adopted architectural techniques from the Romano-Byzantine tradition, as well as the Oriental, developing, and renewing them in their own unique style. In addition to mentioning Jordanian hammams and the Qusur decorative scheme, this paper focuses on Qastal, Qasr al-Hallabat and Qasr al-Tuba; the analysis revolves around plaster and stone shaping techniques. |
