Fréquentent-ils les Chinois en dehors du travail ? Sont-ils exclus de la société locale ? Cet article découvre et présente la structure du soutien social dont cette population bénéficie, en analysant leurs relations avec les leurs compatriotes et les locaux. En effet, il existe un fort réseau au sein de la population des commerçants africains, formant ainsi un entre-soi qui occupe une place importante. En même temps, afin d’assurer leur intérêt, ils travaillent activement avec les Chinois. Par ces engagements, ils peuvent créer une image positive d’eux-mêmes, ce qui leur permet d’obtenir un intérêt encore plus intéressant. Néanmoins, leurs échanges avec des Chinois à Yiwu sont principalement basés sur un intérêt pragmatique, c’est-à-dire qu’ils ne sont pas réellement intégrés dans la société locale. Ils adoptent plutôt une attitude sélective : s’intégrer avec certaines personnes dans certains contextes, souvent liés au commerce, et s’en éloigner lorsque l’intérêt commun disparaît. 
520 |a The city of Yiwu, a small city in China, is currently hosting the second largest African population in China for its dynamic commercial opportunities. Do they live apart from each other ? Is the interaction, if there is, restrained to business ? Are they excluded from the local society ? This article discovers and presents the structure of the social support that this population enjoys while presenting their relationships with their compatriots and the locals. There exists, as a matter of fact, a strong and influential network within the African community. Moreover, in order to assure their interest, they work actively with the Chinese, which could create a better image of themselves therefore leading to more potential benefits. However, such interactions are solely based on a practical interest, meaning that they are not truly nor fully integrated in the local society. In fact, their strategy is rather selective : integrate with certain people in certain context, normally related to business and distant themselves when the common interest disappears.
