| 520 | |a The article describes the foundation and implementation of the synodal episcopal management of the church administration in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia by 1934. The Synodal management model as one of the features of the Lutheran and the Reformed churches in Germany was developed in the 19th century, creating synodal institutions within the church administration side by side with consistorial elements. However, in the law of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, issued in 1832 in Russia, the synodal elements of the church administration remained only at a theoretical level. For this reason, when the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia was structured, it joined the trend of the evangelical church law development of that time, thus adopting in 1928 the Presbyterian Synodal and Episcopal Church Constitution, which is the way of church life and administration in the evangelical churches of Europe until now. So it can be stated that the tradition of administration of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia, as displayed in the Constitution of 1928 and its modified version of 1996, stems from the theological, ecclesiological and political processes of the 19th century Europe and their development. | ||
