RT Article T1 Rumoldus Colibrant, Eerste Abt Van Postel (1545-1626): Rumoldus Colibrant (1545-1626), first abbot of Postel. JF Trajecta VO 5 IS 1 SP 26 OP 43 A1 Vienne, Luc LA English YR 1996 UL https://ixtheo.de/Record/1839561513 AB Rombout (Rumoldus) Colibrant was born in Louvain, Belgium, in 1545. He entered the monastery of Floreffe, where he soon became a subprior and a master of novices. As a result of a conflict regarding the interpretation of the vow of poverty he found himself isolated from the community and became a parish priest of Solre-Saint-Géry. Thrice he was an important candidate for the abbacy of Floreffe, but because of all kinds of machinations he was passed by for the office. After several short-term appointments as parish priest of Floreffe and Oerle (near Eindhoven) he became prior of the monastery of Postel. He succeeded in renovating the ruined monastery and reclaiming its old privileges, making Postel independent and raising it to the status of abbey (1613-16). He also became its first abbot. Colibrant may well be considered a typical figure of the Premonstratensian Reformation. K1 Belgium K1 Colibrant, Rumoldus K1 Postel (monastery) K1 Premonstratensians
