It was found that higher scores on psychoticism were associated with lower scores on religiosity in men although not in women. The strength of these associations was reduced when lie scale scores were partialled out, although a strong trend towards a statistically significant association remained for men. These data extend the research base on personality and religiosity cross-culturally and help to clarify the role social desirability plays in producing the association between personality and religiosity.
