Описание
Итог:This article traces the development of ganhua in Sun Yatsen’s thought within the broader historical and institutional context from the late nineteenth-century to early twentieth-century China. By doing so, it argues for a significant religious component in the concept’s historical origin and later development, which was nevertheless co-opted by party ideology as a means for mass propaganda. The elements of religious foundation and ideological cooptation are most evident in Sun Yatsen’s evolving use of the term ganhua and his view on religion over time. In the end, ganhua, a spiritual reforming process as conventionally understood, was no longer directed towards a religious salvation but a happiness based on the revitalization of the country defined exclusively by a party’s ‘revolution-ism’.
