In the 19th century, Jules Michelet, when publishing "A Feiticeira", started to argue in favor of witchcraft as reminiscent of a pagan religion of cult to the fertility of the land and adoration of nature, and which occurs through protest movements by peasants, enabling the emergence of Modern Witchcraft and Wicca. This article aims to analyze Modern Witchcraft in its origins, and how it, as a manifestation of a religion of nature, is positioned in relation to the preservation of the environment.
