Description
Summary:Neopaganism is a religious phenomenon that emerges as a movement to retake ancient cults of nature, having found fertile soil for its resurgence as a result of Romanticism in the 19th century, which resisted rationalism, skepticism and scientificism in the late 18th century. In the 19th century, Jules Michelet, when publishing "A Feiticeira", started to argue in favor of witchcraft as reminiscent of a pagan religion of cult to the fertility of the land and adoration of nature, and which occurs through protest movements by peasants, enabling the emergence of Modern Witchcraft and Wicca. This article aims to analyze Modern Witchcraft in its origins, and how it, as a manifestation of a religion of nature, is positioned in relation to the preservation of the environment. Keyword: Neopaganism; Wicca; Policy; Environment.
