Description
Summary:In its earliest iteration, the Bulletin (or The Council on the Study of Religion Bulletin as it was known then), was a central publication in the development of the burgeoning North American field. Its combination of the profession’s news and scholars’ critical reflections helped to usher in many of the frameworks within which contemporary scholars carry out their work. This 1976 piece by Douglas Sturm helps to contextualize the myriad considerations central to an institution’s health. We trust that today’s readers will see that though some of the acronyms and players have changed, many of the concerns remain.
