RT Article T1 Muslims and Modernities: From Islamism to Post-Islamism? JF Religious studies and theology VO 32 IS 1 SP 57 OP 71 A1 Mahdavi, Mojtaba LA English YR 2013 UL https://ixtheo.de/Record/1837296170 AB This article problematizes the complexity of Muslim approaches to the question of modernity. It challenges both a hegemonic voice of a singular and superior Western modernity and an essentialist Islamist response to modernity. It examines the alternative approach of multiple modernities. This approach calls for a critical dialogue and negotiation between tradition and modernity, expedites the possibility of emerging Muslim modernities, and a gradual shift from Islamism toward post-Islamism in the Muslim world.
