| Summary: | The article examines the recent book by Dario Garribba about La Giudea di Gesù assessing in particular the underlying thesis, according to which the historical period under consideration (4 BC-44 AD) must be studied in its autonomy, recognizing the distinctive characteristics that differentiate it from the subsequent age of the procurators (44-66 AD), to which it is very often erroneously assimilated. The author of the article supports this interpretation, arguing against the competing thesis, which improperly rear-projects in the time of Jesus the social and political tensions of the turbulent years preceding the Judean anti-Roman revolt.
