Ne s’agit-il pas plutôt du rétablissement d’une relation, là où la rupture dominait ? Alors qu’on associe encore souvent le salut à la vie éternelle et l’au-delà, l’inscription du salut dans notre histoire, dans la pâte humaine et dans la création, comme « délivrance » du mal qui nous menace toujours et encore, continue d’être déterminante, y compris face aux défis qui sont les nôtres aujourd’hui. | ||

Christian theology in all its domains must thus come to grips with this question all the while avoiding in any way reducing it to ‘the meaning of life’. Is it not rather a question of re-establishing a relationship in the place of a break that has dominated the issue? Whereas we still so often associate salvation with eternal life and the hereafter, the integral belonging of salvation in our history, in humanness and in creation, as ‘deliverance’ from the evils that threaten us always and ever, continues to be decisive, including in the face of today’s challenges. | ||
