However, since little has been done so far—notwithstanding their affinities—in linking postcolonial and queer theories within biblical hermeneutics, the attraction between these theories in applying their insights to NT texts, is explored. Building on earlier work on these theoretical positions and stances and their value for biblical interpretation, this contribution focuses on liminality in particular. In this brief contribution, liminality is investigated as a heuristic concept and use for plotting sex and gender positions in a few biblical texts. The use and value of a postcolonial, queer approach in biblical hermeneutics and its value in generating useful and appropriate readings of the texts, is argued and briefly demonstrated.
