| 520 | |a This contribution explores the occurrence of Ps 2:7 in Heb 1:5 and 5:5 on three levels, namely on a tradition-historical, a text-critical and a hermeneutical level. Its purpose is to trace particularly the origin and text form of Ps 2:7 in Hebrews. On the traditional-historical level, the importance of Ps 2 in the early Jewish and Christian traditions and the existing combination of Ps 2 + 2Sam 7 in 4Q174 [4QFlor] and in Heb 1:5-6 is discussed, as well as the combination of Ps 2 + Ps 110(109):4 in Heb 5:5. It is assumed and confirmed that the author of Hebrews knew this quotation via the early Jewish and Christian traditions. The author does not quote here from a so-called "Testimony Book". On the textcritical level, the intra- and inter-textual readings are compared with each other. All readings are in agreement with each other. Some brief remarks are finally made on the hermeneutical level regarding the function and interpretation of the quotation in its new contexts in Heb 1:5 and 5:5. It takes a prominent position in Hebrews and is applied in terms of the exalted Jesus. | ||
