| Summary: | This paper argues that there is a narrative inclusio between the promise of a vision of angels to Nathaniel in John 1 : 51 and the appearance of angels to Mary Magdalene in the tomb at the head and feet of the body of Jesus in 20 : 11-18. John reads Isa 6 targumically to see the vision of the Lord enthroned on his throne chariot as a prophecy of the resurrected and glorified Jesus in the tomb. The angels cover his head and his feet, hiding the direct vision of his risen glory. |
