RT Article T1 Robert Graystanes, O.S.B., On Essence and Existence JF Recherches de théologie ancienne et médiévale VO 56 SP 102 OP 116 A1 Kennedy, Leonard A. 1922-2010 LA English YR 1989 UL https://ixtheo.de/Record/1824241305 AB Researchers of early fourteenth-century philosophy are now giving serious attention to Graystanes' work, composed between 1320 and 1330. The present article is a transcript and analysis of one of the 100 questions Graystanes treated. In this question he teaches that essence and existence are not really distinct in God or creatures. Some of his arguments are taken from Henry of Ghent and, perhaps more importantly, from Aristotle. Robert also answers objections to his position, especially those found in the Summa Contra Gentiles of St. Thomas Aquinas.
