Description
Summary:Studies of the metaphysical and logical structure of Aquinas' Summa theologiae have been numerous, but, as Chenu observed, research into the theological forms of the work is lacking. Against the background of studies since Chenu, in this article grace is persued as a theological form, a thread of Christian revelation which, far from only existing in its section at the end of the I-II, underlies most of the major sections of this theology. Such an investigation explains how the early treatments of God in the ST are not a theodicy but find their proper theological climax in supra-natural levels of being, and how the ST in its first two Partes employs the mode of crescendo, moving from being to the special life of God called "grace".
