Description
Summary:The Book of Revelation alludes to a multitude of prophetic motifs. Many scholars have noted the use of Ezekiel in Revelation, although few have analyzed the reception of Ezek 37,1-14. This article contends that the allusions to Ezekiel in Revelation are purposeful and systematic. John preserves the framework of Ezekiel’s vision, and uses specific passages that are foundational to the structure of this pericope. This suggests that John respected the sense, meaning, and context of Ez 37, 1-14, and readers are expected to know these intertexts in order to understand the message of Revelation.
