Summary: | Taking as a basis the Five Marks of Mission and exploring the theology of creation and the place of humanity within it, this article explores how a gospel message that is not a call to creation care is not true to the core of Christian faith. Also, an attempt to address environmental issues without the evangelistic call to be disciples of Christ and a vision of the Kingdom in which humanity lives reconciled with creation, is weakened in its effectiveness. With a focus on scripture, as well as engaging with contemporary Pagan thinking on animism, this article argues that environmentalism and evangelism are essential companions in Christian creation care. |
