We set out to explain that Lavelle shares with Hegel three positions concerning the problem of the passing of time. 1) Memory is considered as a resurrection of the past, which permits the saving of events from the negativity of time, and to spiritualize them. 2) Hegel and Lavelle both try consequently to develop a "chronodicy" to justify the existence and the essential role of time in the different activities of spirit : time is rehabilitated on all sides — negativity, irreversibility, etc. — because these temporal dimensions include the conditions of freedom. 3) This "rehabilitation" of time points out the plasticity of time, which means its capacity of being shaped by memory and will. | ||
| 520 | |a RésuméCet article étudie la relation de l’esprit au temps dans les philosophies de Hegel et de Louis Lavelle. Nous nous proposons de montrer que Lavelle partage avec Hegel trois attitudes face au problème du passage du temps. 1) La mémoire est conçue comme une résurrection du passé, qui permet de préserver les événements de la négativité du temps, et de les spiritualiser. 2) Hegel et Lavelle tentent dès lors l’un et l’autre de développer une « chronodicée », afin de justifier l’existence du temps et son rôle essentiel dans les diverses activités de l’esprit : le temps est réhabilité dans toutes ses facettes — négativité, irréversibilité, etc. — parce que ces dimensions temporelles sont les conditions de possibilité de la liberté. 3) Cette « réhabilitation »’ du temps souligne la plasticité du temps, c’est-à-dire sa capacité à être configuré par la mémoire et la volonté. | ||
