Yet careful examination of Socrates’ Apology and book VII of The Republic clearly manifests that this concern is, according to Plato, neither transmissible from person to person, nor intelligible - these two points being linked. It is also clear that in the framework of Platonic thought, Socratic behavior is not only unexplained, but is positively inexplicable, and this, finally, by reason of the conception of the soul and of the Good offered by this thought. | ||
| 520 | |a RésuméBien connu est le fait que Socrate passa sa vie à se soucier d’éveiller en autrui le souci du bien, du vrai, et de soi-même; mais bien plus inaperçu demeure le caractère énigmatique de ce souci pour autrui. Pourtant, un examen attentif de L’Apologie de Socrate et du livre VII de La République manifeste clairement que ce souci n’est, chez Platon, ni transmissible d’homme à homme, ni intelligible - ces deux points étant liés. On montre ainsi que, dans le cadre de la pensée platonicienne, la conduite socratique est non seulement inexpliquée, mais positivement inexplicable : et cela, finalement, en raison de la conception de l’âme et du Bien qu’offre cette pensée. | ||
