Even if he cites De praedestinatione sanctorum in the Commentary on the Sentences, his direct knowledge of it comes no sooner than the redaction of De Veritate 14, yet no later than his work on the Catenea aurea in Ioannem. It is not certain, however, that he read this work of the Bishop of Hippo in its entirety. | ||

La comparaison avec d’autres sources du xiiième siècle et avec les Sentences et la Glose de Pierre Lombard manifestent que Thomas ne puise pas toujours ses citations directement chez Augustin. Même s’il cite le De praedestinatione sanctorum déjà dans le Commentaire des sentences, il le connaît directement au plus tôt pendant la rédaction du De Veritate 14, au plus tard en travaillant à la Catena aurea in Ioannem.
