In putting forward an analysis of the structure, contents and names of the two interlocutors, it proposes to identify this text’s underlying literary model in the biblical episode of the meeting of Solomon and the queen of Sheba. The dialogue between Philo and Sophia is thus supposed to stage the confrontation between a learned Jew with « foreign » wisdom, dubious human learning. One finds the same design in the work of Leone’s father, Isaac Abravanel: in transposing it in a different linguistic, social and cultural context, the Dialoghi resume the comparison between the h?okmah of Solomon and the uncertain understandings of foreign peoples elaborated by Isaac in his commentary on the First Book of Kings, written in 1492. | ||

Le dialogue entre Philon et Sophie est censé mettre ainsi en scène la confrontation d’un savant juif avec la sagesse « étrangère », savoir humain et douteux. On retrouve le même dessein dans l’œuvre du père de Léon, Isaac Abravanel : en la transposant dans un contexte linguistique, social et culturel différent, les Dialogues reprennent la comparaison entre la h?okmah de Salomon et les connaissances incertaines des peuples étrangers élaborée par Isaac dans son commentaire du Premier Livre des Rois écrit en 1492. | ||
