Le texte d'Alexandre, dirigé contre les Idées platoniciennes, a la particularité unique dans la tradition aristotélicienne conservée d'être un centón, dont l'analyse a permis d'exhumer un nouveau fragment du Protreptique d'Aristote; il est possible, en outre, que ce centon ait gardé trace d'un argument du traité d'Aristote Sur les Idées. Le second texte, consacré à la réfutation d'un développement d'Alexandre sur les universaux, constitue sans doute l'unique fragment connu à ce jour d'un commentaire d'Olympiodore au De anima. The publication and study of two ancient Greek works hitherto unpublished (Alexander of Aphrodisias and Olympiodorus of Alexandria), transmitted by the Ambrosianus Q 74 sup., a Byzantine manuscript from the late 10th century, shed light on some of the hazier aspects of commentary in Antiquity. Alexander's work, directed against the Platonic Ideas, presents the unique characteristic in Aristotelian tradition that has been handed down, of being a cento, the analysis of which has permitted the exhumation of a new fragment of Aristotle's Protrepticus. It is furthermore possible that this cento may have preserved traces of argument from Aristotle's lost treatise De Ideis. The second work, a refutation of a development by Alexander on universals, is undoubtedly the only known fragment to date of Olympiodorus' commentary on the De Anima. | ||
