Le défi à relever concerne la « réduction phénoménologique », refusée par la plupart des phénoménologues parce que, craignent-ils, elle conduirait au solipsisme ou à la méconnaissance d'autrui en tant qu'autrui. Y. Thierry montre avec rigueur et originalité pourquoi la réduction est la seule « porte » qui ouvre vraiment sur autrui; puis, comment, par l'intersubjectivité qu'elle rend possible, elle fonde le social et le sujet politique, inséré lui-même dans une vision grandiose de l'histoire et de la culture. Yves Thierry's work Conscience et Humanité selon Husserl, Essai sur le sujet politique is doubly praiseworthy in that, inspired by Husserl, it takes up a challenge and establishes a political philosophy that appears only as suggestive virtuality in Husserl's work. The challenge taken up concerns the "phenomenological reduction" that the majority of phenomenologisis reject because they fear it would lead to solipsism or to not recognising others as others. Y. Thierry shows, with precision and originality, why this reduction is the only "door" that truly opens onto others and, via the intersubjectivity that it allows, how it founds the social and the political subject which is itself inserted in a grandiose vision of the history of culture. | ||
