De nombreux exemples sont donnés, montrant l'importance des circonstances pour le choix des textes et leur interprétation, soit traditionnelle, soit toute personnelle. After describing generally the ways in which Holy Scripture was made use of by Guillaume Briçonnet, Bishop of Meaux, from 1519 to 1524 (cf. Rev. Se. Ph. Th. 63 (1979) 345-364), this article details his use of the Psalms in particular, there being no fewer than 265 quotations from them in his Correspondance with the young Duchess Marguerite of Angoulême. Numerous examples are given, showing that his choice of texts was influenced by circumstances arising at the time, as were also his interpretations of them, these being sometimes traditional and sometimes purely personal. | ||
