Il étudie également la Vénus de Milo, comme le montre le texte extrait des Mémoires de l'Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres, et s'appuie sur les appréciations des auteurs anciens comme Cicerón et Virgile. Par ailleurs, sa conception de la dignité doit aussi être rapprochée de l'interprétation de la morale kantienne. Mais F. Ravaisson se plaît, de plus, à comparer l'art et la philosophie, comme lorsqu'il médite sur la pensée de Léonard de Vinci. Enfin on soulignera l'influence importante de Schelling, visible en étudiant les Textes esthétiques rassemblés par X. Tilliette. F. Ravaisson attaches great importance to the ideo of grace in artistic word. He makes references to Schiller's aesthetic writings. He studies, too, the Venus of Milo; and, as shown in an extract from the records of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres, he indulges in appreciations of ancient writers such as Cicero and Virgil. In another sphere his conception of dignity bears comparison with the aesthetic notions of Kant. Moreover, F. Ravaisson goes so far as to compare art with philosophy, as when he meditates upon the thinking of Leonardo da Vinci. Finally, stress is laid on the considerable extent to which he is influenced by Schelling, visible on studying the Aesthetic Texts collected by X. Tilliette.
