Il évoque ensuite sa critique du « monotonothéisme » judéo-chrétien tel qu'il sacrifie tout à la transcendance spirituelle de l'Unique. Il s'interroge enfin avec lui sur la reviviscence possible d'un polythéisme nouveau, à la fois créateur et adorateur, dont la figure énigmatique de Dionysos apparaît comme le chiffre poétique. Il conclut en dressant un bref bilan qui convie à mieux repenser tout ensemble les rapports de l'un et du multiple, ainsi que ceux du divin et de l'humain. In a study of this odd observer, which Friedrich Nietzsche was and remains, the writer reflects upon our twofold cultural heritage from Athens and Jerusalem, and its significance to-day. He recalls in the first place Nietzsche's eulogy of Greco-pagan polytheism and his enthusiasm for the splendours inherent in nature. He proceeds to call to mind the criticisms Nietzsche has made of Jewish-Christian "monoto-theism" in that it sacrifices everything in favour of the spiritual transcendence of a single God. Finally, like Nietzsche himself, the writer speculates on the possibility of the resurgence of a new polytheism, both as a creative agency and as something to be worshipped, its enigmatic image being Dionysus. He ends by drawing up a brief balance-sheet which leaves us wanting to revise our ideas about the relationship between the single and the multiple , as well as between the divine and the human. | ||
