Par le détour d'une réflexion sur le concept fondamental de « mal radical », l'A. propose une réponse qui éclaire, sans parfaitement la résoudre, l'énigme d'une apparente antinomie. Assuming the reader to be familiar with what the Bible tells us about forgiveness, this article is prompted by the paradox that the Gospels remind us on the one hand of the malevolence of sin, while containing on the other hand one of Jesus' last utterances on the cross: "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." How is one to reconcile the gravity of that offense with the selflessness which robbed it of its venom? Through the medium of a consideration of the basic concept of "radical evil", the writer offers a solution which throws some light on the enigma but does not clear it up fully. | ||
